Did I Get A Good Deal?

Hey everyone :)

Put a £250 reserve on my first car, an aygo sport on saturday. I'm picking it up this monday and was wondering how good (Or bad) a deal i got...

1.0 3Dr Aygo sport with Air Con + alloys in silver (wanted Ice blue)

1429 Miles

56 plate

I got it for £7200 with tax included along with some car mats and the usual 1 year RAC Cover.

I also got the GAP and the glass stuff at an extra cost

Insurance was only £700!!! Which is good for an 18 year old i think

Tell me what you think, I did have a reserve on a 53 yaris t3 but i think the aygo is so much nicer for a little extra ;)

You asked about your deal - well these are the guides for a brand new car -

Aygo Sport 3 door list £7730

Aygo Sport 3 door pay £7142

Air Con (+ and Sport only) list £500

Air Con (+ and Sport only) pay £461

Metallic paint (+ and Sport only) list £325

Metallic paint(+ and Sport only) pay £299

That makes £7902 and with tax and mats about £8000. So basically you have saved £800 for having 1 owner and a few miles on the car. Please don't take this the wrong way but personally I would have stretched to a new one as the saving isn't huge (and you could have chosen colour) or even gone for a new plus model over a used sport.

If you used their finance then you could have got it cheaper as they make a lot on that as well, you have also gone for the gap and glass which again they make money on.

So not an earth shattering deal but you haven't been totally ripped off.

In terms of insurance £700 sounds a lot as it is one of the cheapest car to insure in the UK - however I am out of touch with the premiums charged for young drivers so perhaps someone else younger could advise you ( I pay just over £100 a year but I'm an old fart ! ).

We paid £100 more for a brand new 5 door '+' with aircon, but thinking back to when we were looking and considering ex demos it seems a decent price. They will have made money on the GAP.

mines about £700 with Pass Plus and with like £450 excess (im 18) had a licence 10 months now.

my insurance is only £500 with i think a £200 excess. I did the pass plus but forgot to tell my insurance that i have so next year i will tell them and im sure i will get a discount!

I guess i didn't do too badly then (or great for that matter). I would've gone for a new one in ice blue but getting this car at this price was pushing it a little and it means i have to take the insurance out in installments :s I got the car out of my savings, i will never take finance out on a car ;) On my phone was bad enough!

Yeah being a teenager is a real downer these days thanks to all these TW*TS in their £100 metros thinking they have F50's :( So it's no wonder we get conned in insurance, ah well £700 is better than what i was expecting

I've just this second realised that i will be saving money if i take the insurance out with just me as the main driver instead of what we have planned to do which is my mum the main driver and me the named one.

I didn't realise it would work like that as every other car is more if i am the main driver, so i will be making my own NCB now which is great. It saves me £78 this year and then more because of the 1 year NCB i will get for next year, Wicked!

One question that i have to ask you guys is, i was down halford today and saw one of those cd/radio with the built in dvd, sat navplayers which have a screen that folds out. I wanted to get one for the aygo but will it be compatable i know swapping out the yaris cd is nightmare if at all possible, any thoughts?

yea it should be easy,havent dont it myself but

just get an Aygo/107/C1 facia (£10ish) and pop in the new cd player, mite have to swap two of the wires over on the ISO but sumone else can tell u how to do that thats dont it before.

One last question for anyone, On the TTE parts what the hell are the front spats? I've locked at the modded version and the unmodded and i can't spot the difference? :s

I'm going to get the spoiler in a month or two after i've paid my mum off the insurance money and then probably the rear, side and front kits with the silencer.

Picking up my Aygo tommorow (Today even) at 12:00pm! :D

cool sounds gr8, the front spatsare extensions of the front bumper, not a new bumper just like two bolt on lips that stick out abit and extend it down.

can u see them little lips that are under the front bumper.

Yeah will do, just been so chuffed driving it around i didn't even notice it, will do that one tommorow though. I don't know anything about brighton unless you mean the writing in the sticker, If so it says Bentleys which was the garage i got it from in Warrington, Manchester(ish). If not, I'm lost :)

Will get the spoiler first i think, then onto the silencer and back bumper although those two fitted and painted will mean i have to save a little while. Will go to my local toyota soon and see what they quote the spoiler fitted and painted at.

I'll probably get the side skirts down the line but the back wants to be done first as i think it looks much nicer with the TTE parts added on. Some nicer alloys and wider tyres also i think but that will be a while too... no rush for them.

Not gonna bother with the front i think the Spats don't do that much for the price might wait and see what other designs come out! :)

Not being lazy i just wanted to get most of my bits together and then do it all in one day rather that bit by bit

The pins are OPPOSITE (120º instead of 180º)

I swapt out the aerial for a silver bee sting one today and have ordered the chrome bulbs for the indi's from eBay.

I'll probably fit them this weekend. I'll have to wait a bit until i can get the spoiler as i've just worked out i already owe more than i'm earning this month
