Installing Central Locking

I have seen a few kits on the net to install central locking in a toyota yaris.

Firstly, do you guys think it would work??

Secondly, if i asked a toyota dealer to do it professionally, would it be expensive??

thanks

Don't know if it would work but if you ask a Toyota dealer to do work for you, they're almost certainly going to be expensive.

Just recently Kerby needed to have his seats taken out due to a leak & Toyota were going to charge him £50/hr & said it would take 5 hours. He did it himself & it took 4 hours with loads of breaks

surely it has central locking already ?

Nope, not on my phase 1 2001 car

The reason for the question it that every now and then I seem to forget to lock my car! Once I parked just up the street, then 2 days later i went back to it a found that i had forgotten to lock it! Think i've just been lucky so far, but dont want to take anymore chances!

Will give toyota a ring soon. Thanks.

Lol, I got so well into the habit of locking my car as I was walking away from it that sometimes I couldn't remember locking it & had to keep going back to make sure, never once forgot to lock it though

lol i do that all the time!

Do you want remote central locking?

You can get a half decent aftermarket remote central locking kit fitted for about £100 - doesnt do anything fancy like start your engine from key fob but o well !

Remote central locking is a god send. Couldn’t be without it. Great when its freezing, no more de-icing the locks!

Can also unlock it before getting to the car so I can get straight in.

I’m sure you can get it done, if you intend keeping the car have a chat with Mr T to see how much they charge.

Yeah, it's also great for those times that you leave your car for a minute or so (like when you're paying for fuel or nipping into the house for something) & you think "Can I be bothered locking it or shall I take a little risk?", it's so easy to just press a button as you're walking away that there's no decision.

Totally agree with you on both points kev! I ALWAYS but ALWAYS forget whether i have locked it or not and this gets so frustrating! :P Always have but it's that doubt that builds up! Also same with the security thing of it being just a blip! Also noticed the range on it is amazing! I was doing the wondering if i had locked it or not when i was at prodrive. There carpark is a massive line basically with my car pretty darn far down! From their reception i was able to lock and unlock my car which was handy as was !Removed! freezin and windy outside! :D

Yay central locking!
