New Car : 3days In And Speedo Stops Working

Recommended Posts

Hi Folks,

Just posting to register a fault. After 3 days of ownership (adding 90 or so miles to the clock) on an Aygo+ 1.0 56plate .. yesterday the speedo packs up including the Trip Display (backlight still worked).

Checked all fuses and connections behind the pod, and the engine bay as well as disconnected the Battery for a time and found nothing wrong.

Had to call the RAC as wasn't prepared to drive it due to the considerable amount of speed cameras here and its a 40mile round trip to work, and I think it's illegal too anyway? RAC chap couldn't work it out either so we dropped it off at Toyota in Stafford. Called today to say they couldn't find the fault and replaced the unit -probably the easy solution. Can pick it up today.

A bit frustrating as had to take half a days holiday, toyota were too busy to look at it the same day, and had no courtesy cars to offer either, and the poor thing's not even hit 1000miles, its only just gone over 100! I guess that's life but thankful RAC (via Toyota Club) were obliging and sorted out a rather nippy '56 fiesta zetec (delivery and pick up) for 48hours or I'd be stuffed, never used AA or RAC before (infact never had a car break down or become undriveable either) and I'm quite impressed.

I was hoping for a reliable car, so fingers crossed this will be the only problem for a while at least.

Anyway, just posting incase anyone has the same problem so can log the number of faults.

Cheers,

Jode

Sounds rubbish - good to know that Toyota Stafford are as useless as ever! Good luck with the new one - hope it was just a little hiccup and it now lasts perfectly for the next few years.

I'm getting an Aygo black on the 16th March, and I live in Stafford - so we'll have to honk if we see each other!

Cheers folks, like i say can't fault the RAC -and the fact I was registered with them so quickly through Toyota, as it'd only been two working days), and also in this case NationalCar (rental), this Fiesta's rather fun and it's a 40mile round trip for them to drop, and again to collect - and remember they have to bring a second car too for the other driver. Unlimited car mileage too. Well happy with all of that.

Looking forward to getting me car back so I actually get chance to take a picture this time :) It's a carbon quartz 1.0l being driven quite quite conservatively around stafford. BL56 numberplate..

As for Toyota Stafford, maybe it's unreasonable but I'd have expected them to have brought a courtesy car in. Earliest they could get one was Friday so it's not a lead-time issue, that's 3 days?! The expectancy was for me to somehow get to work for the rest of the week without a car due to their car fault... provided it's fixed though I guess I can't fault them for the turn around and the expressochoc was quite good..

Anyway, not usually a moaner! Hopefully wont have any complaints about the car after this, was enjoying myself up till the mishap :)

Wont hesitate to wave if i see another aygo, seem to be more C1s around at the moment mind.
