I think its a common thing with all corollas. I have a 02 3dr cts in super red II. I used to do ALOT of motorway miles and the front of my cts looked pebbled dashed. Not only was it stone chips but even after dead flys got removed you could see the imprints they had left in their wake!!!

So anyway it all came to blows when i took mine in for a service and when they were jet washing it the jet had gotten into a stone chip and blown the laquer off my bonnet leaving a great mess. Anyway we sort of came up with a deal between me and Mr T. I paid for the paint and they would respray the bonnet front bumper and both wings all for £150. Never to be repeated again he kept saying and even wrote that on the invoice.

So now it looks brand new and its done over 110,000 miles. I've now changed jobs so not doing alot of miles and its staying pretty chip free but i do make a habit of putting alot of car wax on the front see if that helps at all.......

I was driving along the motorway a few weeks ago and heard a crack, I thought a stone had hit the window, but window was okay. :(

Then last week I noticed a chip and small dent above the drivers side rear window, paint chipping off. :crybaby:

As the car is metallic silver, repairs are not so easy. I am going to try to repair this week with the sticky plasters that they give you with the car. Not expecting it to look that great, but as long as it keeps the rust at bay, just one of the pain of having a metallic paint car.

Both of Jack's CTS's had metallic paint. It might be thicker than plain colours, we certainly didn't find it fragile. There was just one rust spot starting near the offside front wheel arch which must have started as a stone chip on the older car but hey, what's one chip.

It sounds like you get them regular. Do you have more in the way of road debris 'round your way perhaps?

Regards

Thin paint, definitely!

Bonnet is pretty shabby on my 05 plate with 30,000 miles. As it's black the spots seem to show up even more noticeable. I've been using Turtle Wax colour magic polish on it for the little marks that are too much hassle to touch-up with paint and it does help.

What has really got me miffed is the two tiny stone chips on the roof just above the window that are now rusting and Toyota aren't interested. Seems the paint/undercoat is thicker at the front of the car as it's expected to deal with chipping but the roof isn't protected to the same degree. I'm having to book the car into a body shop to have the roof fixed.
