grrr i think i may have been ripped off again by colchester toyota!!! had its 20 k service, said i needed a new tyre as my front left one was virtually bald! (apparently) asked for a quote, and they said 70quid!!! for one !Removed! tyre!!! i told them no originally but then had no choice but to agree cos i thought if i'd waited id keep putting it off n never get it changed!!!

not impressed tho! the tyres dont even hold that well either! :ffs:

How often you check your car if one tyre was almost bald - do you ever check tyre pressures? Fines are heavy for dodgy tyres and a piece of rubber no larger than the palm of your hand is all that lies between you and the nearest brick wall.

Before I leave my car for service I always do a visual check of tyres and brake pad thickness - both are nice earners for dealers.

Why only one tyre dosn't make sense! Have you rotated ypur tyres at all? if it was balled the alignment must have been out.... YES you where ripped :ffs: hope it was the same make though

Talking about tyre Pressures, I got a new Aygo only done 300 miles and wonder what pressure must the tyres be no passengers

My tyres went bauld after 10,000 miles, as this is my first car and iv only ben driving since april last year i didnt know anything about roatating tyres and wheel alighnment, but after i got my new alloys i had them alighned up and the garage said they were really far out, so maybe its common thing for the aygo for them to go out quite easily.

The only thing i can think that would of put them out was from mounting the curb a few times when i was learning.

but yea £70 does seem alot for a tyre, should of got it done by sumone else.

matty.

£70 is alot for a standard size tyre next time get them off www.mytyres.co.uk and get it fitted by local garage, usually £10 a wheel, and you would get change out of £40 for the whole lot!

thing is it is a rare size according to most garages, the last time i bought one on the cheap (the bald one) it cost me 30 quid but they had to order it in cos it was a 165/55/14 or 15 lol i dunno the exact size but i know they're rare! :crybaby:

hmmm very true, when i buy a car i just drive it and hope 4 the best, im a lil nieve when it comes to cars. my dad always does the pressures so thats always checked. i do travel long distances to and from work so maybe its just the fact i dont ever rotate tyres or maybe i drive it hard, and long distances at high speeds dont help i guess. was just shocked to get thru so many tyres in 1 yr! lol
