Passenger Foot Well Flooding

My new XT5 RAV4 has flooded in the passenger foot well. It has been with the toyota dealer since last thursday and I cannot get a full explaination from them as to the cause. I have today been told that they are fitting new carpets and undelay and also some seal in the front. Looking at other web sites it appears this is a common fault with the new shape RAV, I would like to hear from other owners who have had the same problem and if the repair has rectified the problem fully, as I feel that Toyota know this problem exists and should be doing a recall. :(

I also am not sure what my rights are in respect to accepting the repair or requesting a new car as the car was bought in Nov 06, I know that from now on I will be constantly looking out for leaks and do not feel the car is up to spec.

Yeah, but didn't StuP have the 'fix' done and it still leaked.

He ended up rejecting the car and getting a refund, after initially having a replacement, which still leaked!!

I am picking up the car today from the dealer, have been told the repair is done so I will have to keep an eye on it for the next few days and hope that i do not have the same problem as StuP.

It is help full to know that he rejected the car after the repair failed and got a refund, it gives me ammunition if I have same problem to negoitate with the dealer.

I don't think so, they were messing about with grommets in the floor! I know they insisted on trying to cure it but eventually gave him a refund.

Got the car back on thursday with the repair completed and new underlay and carpets etc. It appears that the repair has worked as we have had two days of heavy rain and the car was parked on my drive as normal and no water anyway

Will keep a check on it
