St205 Turbo

I am doing the headgasket on my ST185 at the weekend, a TRD metal headgasket , and the rest that is needed for a HG service. I have noticed that my dump valave has oil residue in it , as if the when it dumps oil is being thrown out, only a very lttle, and in 4 months the car has used very very little oil.

When the dipstick is removed and the engine is running and being revved, there isnt any smoke or puffs coming from it so i am guessing the piston rings are good, and the PCV? is clean not bunnged up > so i am guessing the turbo oil seals are getting a little work, doesnt smke or anything..

Which leads me to the ST205 turbo bit, can anyone suggest where i can get one of these cheapish.. i have been led to rather dubvious sounding people on eBay and have not wanted to buy their units, just didnt sound right, play in the shafts etc.... so any suggestion?

There was a ct20b turbo for sale on the mr2 forum, about 20k miles if i remember rightly. Was considering it myself, but mine seems fine.

Good luck

if you havent brought the HG yet just get a stock ST-205 gasket from toyota. theyre cheaper and are the same. i paid 200 quid for an HKS one, how fed up was i when i compared it to a stock one and found no differance other than one has an arrow and the other says HKS

as for turbos try trevor at TCB

dont forget your ARP head studs too

I got a tripple layer Metal HG quite cheap a while ago, so i have that already and the service bits. Why are ARP studs nes, are the stock ones not long enuff with a thicker HG?

no ARp studs are stronger and hold the head down better than stock meaning that the headgasket should never fail again. think they're about £100 for the set
