Hej!

I come from Denmark an as many of you, also got an Aygo. My question is: Is it possible to put 17" on an Aygo without trouble? 17*7 with offset 40. Does any of you know that???

From our FAQ :

You can change to 13, 15 or 16 inch wheels without modifying the bodywork.

For 15 inch wheels you will need to buy rim (wheel) size 15x6.5 ET 37 PCD 4/100. In order to maintain the accuracy of the speedometer with this increased size you will need to put 195/45/15 tyres on. This change will mean that when you are travelling at an indicated 70 mph you will actually be moving at 69.92 mph. Alternatively for 15 inch wheels you can fit 175/50/15 tyres however this choice is limited to just 2 tyre manufacturers as this size is not very common. This change will mean that when you are travelling at an indicated 70 mph you will actually be moving at 69.86 mph.

For 16 inch wheels you will need to buy rim (wheel) size 16x6.5 ET 37 PCD 4/100. In order to maintain the accuracy of the speedometer with this increased size you will need to put 195/40/16 tyres on. This change will mean that when you are travelling at an indicated 70 mph you will actually be moving at 70.67 mph.

The recommended tyre fitments are therefore 13" 155/70/13, 14" 165/60/14, 15" 195/45/15 and 16" 195/40/16.

All wheels are offset 35 – 45 and bore 54.1. Offset 37 is ideal.

Yes, 17" will fit... 17x7 with 205/40 or 195/40 tyres... A guy on a pug 107 forum who has 17" on his car, see this link: 17" on 107

Here´s a pic of it: 17AEZ007.jpg

So if they fit on the 107, they should fit the aygo too.

i think with all alloys u need to be carefull when you are carrying stuff and ppl in the back cos mine are the right fitment but can rub alot when going over bumps and turning fast like on a motorway roundabout.

17" wheels may look good but can the suspension handle them and can the small engine turn the additional weight?

I would think the car would struggle in performance terms and fuel consumption may be worse as well.

yea, i know with the slightly wider tyres on mine (195's) it loses some of the handeling, it may be even worse with the 205 tyres.

Also worth noting is obviously beyond the worse ride you will get from heavier rims on stiffer lower profile sidewalls is that you will less progression when the car begins to slide. This will make the handling seem more erratic.

You will have more grip (roadholding) but you will compromise the handling characteristics of the car. So you will effectively be going faster when the tyres start to slip and when they do they will go from lots of grip to no grip much more quickly. The aygo doesn't have any power to pull itself out of a slide.

Cars always tend to handle best with the stock wheel/tyre setup... solely because they are designed to do so.

Anyone now a good 195/40/16 tire? I can only find a Pirelli · PZERO NERO · 195/40R16, and they cost almost 300EUR each!

Are there any cheaper ones?

WHat size wheels was the Aygo designed to run on as thats usually the ultimate size for the car?

I used to have a MINI and it came with either 15", 16", 17" and even 18" alloys but because 16" was what the car was designed to run on, thats what I had fitted

from what i know:

the orgional is 14" on 155/65/14 i think.

15" goes on 195/45/15

16" goes on 195/40/16

and am guessing 17"'s would be on 205/35/17

in order to keep the wheel size near enought the the orgional size

from my experience with putting wider tyres on you loses alot of the grip in the wet but on dry roads the grip is unreal. The bigger wheels also feel heavier on the steering. But tbh its not that much of a difference and the bigger wheels do look so much better the the tiny 14" you get with it so its free choise really.

Having looked at the 'evidence' I don't think I will go for 17" - just too big for the car . .

yea, that guy who has 17" on says he got front rubbing on full lock, so thats the city car handleing out the window. You gotta realise thou that the Aygo isnt desgined for anything other then the 14" wheels it has on it, iv put 15" on and i have to be carefull about putting ppl in the back and going fast over bumps cos the the rear tyres just rub on the wheel arches and thats just with 15"'s
