Hids

I've just fitted bi-xennon HID's that I've brought from HIDS4U, but nothing works. When I turn the stalk to dip the main beam dash light comes on but I have no lights at all.

Whats wrong?

The kit does work btw.

Must be because when I try a little 12V Battery connected to the HID connector the lights come on. But once I plug the HID's into the car loom no lights at all. Wierd thing is the main beam dash light comes on when I put the stalk on the dip.

Make sure the +ve and -ve are correctly positioned on the 3 pin plug on the car (the one that originally connects to the H4 bulb) as filament bulbs works either way, but HIDs don't.

Get a multi meter and know which pin does what. You may have to reposition the pins on the plug before fitting to the HID harness.

I did my HIDs in 10 mins, works great

P.S. does your HID harness comes with a control box? Or is it just a simple relay harness?

Comes with a control box(ballast). Looks like the Phase 2 yaris uses -VE switiching instead of +VE switching like the HID's need. The HIDs needs the common to be -ve, but the yaris loom has a +ve common and uses -ve for dip and main beam instead of +ve like on most cars.

Just a quick update.

My Dad just designed his own loom to connect between the HIDs and the car loom. Just tried it on the drivers side and everything works :D With lovely bright lights  . I've just walked towards the car from a distance at a low level and the halogen in the left side actually dazzle more than the HIDs which is brill  . Therefore when I have 2 HID's installed I'll have a dazzle/glare free setup. Wierdly the Toyota garage aligned the lights before I brought the car. Didnt do a good job.

Update tomorrow with pics maybe :)

Yup I know. But most people round here drive with 130W + halogens in their cars, cops know but do nothing, some of them drive with badly aligned lamps which really blind you. So 1 person with correctly aligned HID won't give any bother.
