Hazard Warning Switch

I needed to press my Hazard Warning Switch the other night and realised I couldn't find it - don't think I've ever pressed it before.

Had to switch the interior light on in the ned to find it.

So my question is should it be lit up at night like the rest of the instruments??

Also is it an MOT requirement as I have my MOT coming up in the next week or two?

Not much help I'm afraid but yes it should be lit up. I'd check the bulb inside the switch. Tricky to get too but it shouldn't be anything else causing it.

I've got the switch out but I can't see anyway to open it up to get to a bulb out. Looks like a sealed unit - do I have to buy the whole thing??

Also anyone know if it's an MOT requirement

Ouch - Just ordered the one tiny little bulb - £4.18!

I would just bodge a different bul in to the holder but I haven't got time - so I'll have to go with the rip off option!

No, don't do it. (Unless you're not that bothered about a few quid) You can get tiny little 3mm 12V bulbs from Maplin for 39p. Shouldn't require any bodging. Not seen the hazard one but if it is like the others it should be easy enough.

Normally I would agree and wouldn't touch it at that price but I've got my MOT next week, and the bulb looks fairly standard but it's in a little grey plastic holder, I originally thought I'd look at how the bulb was fitted in the holder and luckily you could remove the bulb with a little bit of fiddly bending of the wires, I then left the plastic bit on the side and the cat stole it, so I now don't have the plastic holder part which comes with it for £4.18 so without bodging it in - could be done by soldering but that's why anyway!!
