Hi all,

After having owned a celica GT gen 4 (1989) for several months I was recently offered a price I couldn't decline.

So im on the look out for a decent well maintained Gen 6.

Any tips on buying, what year did they stop production, major differences within the gen 6 range.

Also contemplating GT4 version but dubious about insurance grouping and fuel costs in comparison to the GT versions???

All help appreciated.

I found with my GT4 , insurance wasnt that much more than my gen5 GTi, Parts artnt too bad if you shop around ( i repair and service my car, so dunno about mechanic bills) petrol consumption is somewhat differant, lol a lot differant.

Things like clutches and headgaskets cost a lot to get sorted and suspension parts on the Gen6 Gt4 can be costyl , i own a Gen5 Gt4 so cant comment much on gen6's. Can buy gen5 gt4's pretty cheaply aswell

I was considering the GT version of the ST205,

Any good links detailing points to look out for on these models.

Also what year did they stop production of this model?

TIA

IIRC ST202 ran til 1998 and ST205 1996?

ST205

Pionters, i was told to look out for evidence of smoke at startup and under acceleration, slipping clutch.

Oil leaks, HG failiures, brown coloured radiator as its plastic, and does wear out especially if theres little white lines in it.

Under accelreation a clunking from the rear is bad news, diff mounts.

Supertrut bushing condition,

My head hurts now!
