Power Stearing Noise

Hi Guys,

sorry for all the posts, i am doing the servicenext weekend and want to get everything out of the way at once.

For a while now the car has made a strange noise when it is turned to the left on full lock. The car does not have to be moving, only turned on full lock. The steering wheel has to be turned to the point it hits its stop. If you release pressure off the wheel a tiny bit the noise stops.

It is a hard noise to describe. It sounds like a metalic grinding / scraping noise. I have checked to see if the wheel is scraping on anything when fully turned, but it isn't.

Anyone know what this is?

Cheers,

Jay

Hi Guys,

I hope your right, but still have a few concerns.

1. Why is it only when the wheels are turned to the Left (no sound when turned to the right)

2. Why hasn't it always done this? (it suddenly started one day)

metallic scraping could be brake disc guards behind the discs rubbing on them as this is a common noise! check by turning steering wheel fully when jacked up with wheel off and turn disc to see if it scrapes?

HI Woody,

cheers for the reply, but unfortunately thats not it.

I have checked to see if anything makes contact whith the wheel, and it doesn't but also, the noise is made when the car is static aswell, which rules out rubing.

Cheers,

Jay
