7 Year Itch

Have been a Toyota Avensis owner for the last 7 years. Have had two cars, 1st one was great so decided to update to an 03 Avensis T3X . How wrong I was. In 8 months ownership Mr T has had it in his workshop on average 2 days a month for various faults.

These include, new clutch, new front brake pads, handbrake cables, new head rest, recall on steering, new drivers seat, a squeaky dashboard, faulty headlights and the finally straw was at 6.00am to be locked out because the keys had gone out of sinc with the car.

You may think I was mad but decided that I would swap the car to an 07 Avensis. We went to Mr T who gave us the opportunity to have a choice of colours and notified us as to when delivery could take place. We chose the colour, but needed to confirm the finance details. After 2 hours still watching the television in Reception we gave up and went and bought a Ford Mondeo. Maybe Mr T staff should do an NVQ in Customer Service.

Thanks to you all for the help this forum has given me in the past. Good Luck to all you Toyota owners and lets hope happy motoring!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Such a shame. :( I've been very fortunate with my now ageing 2001 Avensis in that I've needed virtually nothing to keep it going but experiences suffered by others do make me think that I should look at other brands when I decide to renew my motor. Mazda and Honda will be receiving a visit on my next foray into buying a new (used) car.

I think its just pot luck on what your dealer is like it does not matter which dealer ie Ford ,Honda, Nissan or Toyata they all vary from extremely bad to extremely good.

I am fortunate my dealer is excellent

Your comments regarding Toyota are correct there is an arrogance about there attitude when dealing with customers at there head office in Epsom !and yes they are losing the plot.

Regarding the reliability of there cars I do not think they are to the same standard as in the past I recently changed my vechile and did not buy another Avensis because I knew the problems I would have such headlights, tailgate struts ,oil consumption issues ,steering racks, to name a few .

I purchased a Verso and hope I will not have the same problems and the only reason I purchased a Toyota was that I have a good dealer and the Honda dealer was poor
