What Tyres

Hey guys, i recently replaced my front tyres with some Pirelli 6000. I had before Pirelli P7 and they were pretty good. I dont like the P6000 (apparently Pirelli has discontinued the P7 for the UK) They have a bad grip on wet cornering, however the breaking on wet is good. They are ok on dry. I had origianally some Bridgestone which were really great on everything...but found them costly to replace hence the P7...Anyone can suggest a good reasonably priced tyre for my Yaris TS? Another thing that I wanted to ask is if anyone else experiences spinning from the front inner wheel on acceleration, even not floored acceleration... (ie roundabout)? i suspect i should have my front suspensions recharged or something but my Toyota delaer says they dont do it...I got now 53K miles on the clock. Cheers

Got 14" wheels so went for Toyo CF1s.

I was having wheel spinning experiences with the cheap tyres I had on before(wet hill starts). Had one incident since but I'm pretty sure that was me

Also had a few at roundabouts which seemed to be easier to prevent if you pull away with the wheels straight(er) and turn after the car is moving. Something which will be inherent with a FWD car. Not had any of these since changing the tyres. (~2 months)

Not sure what you mean by inside wheel (seems realtive to me) so all I say is it was the left wheel whilst turning left at roundabouts in the UK.

btw I also have 53k on the clock

Ive got goodyear Eagle F1s, which i think are mint. Someone will probably disagree with me. Got them for £38 a tyre

Hey just to say i get the same inside wheel spin, the best thing to do is enter the corner faster and accelerate more gently on the exit to get to most out of the car.

Or you can do the opposite and use it to exit roundabout with out moving the steering wheel lol =P

Eagle F1's are awsome in all weather conditions, the proxes TR1 are also just as good apparently (my next set of tyres to conpare)

i just think the inside wheel spin is a generic t-sport problem that happens under power.

like i said just enter the roundabout faster as the car WILL STICK! with the right rubber of course lol.

Brad =)

I meant to say the tyre closer to the roundabout. This loses adherence easily whilst cornering and it spins nastly as you floor the accelerator (...i love it tho :P) I never had this with Bridgestone Potenza tyres (they really are glued on to the road!) but they are !Removed! expensive to replace. The P7 was a good compromise. p6000 are pathetic (i paid 75 quid each!) Anyway I'm going to try these TOYO tyres as I love my Yaris gripped on the road! BTW as you have same mileage as me, i'll tell you the things my car has:

-I got engine light comes and go (this was since 25k miles). Toyota said to ignore it as nothing specific. I have to say the engine runs always responsive even when light is on (I posted this problem a couple of years ago but i didnt get any replay! I've seen now that this problem happens to other yaris ts too). The light usually goes after a couple of days.

-I got a funny subtle rattling when i steer right all the way thru from still to MOTION ie U turn.

-I got a pretty floored biting point on my clutch (i never feel it as a problem tho, the clutch still makes a great job when i sprint thru first and second gear :P

Thats all. I have to say I'm still very impressed with my Yaris TS. I do like the new AURIS, esp, the 2.2 turbodiesel (i booked a drive test with the 2 litres turbodiesel for this Monday; the 2.2litres TD - orT180 hasnt be released yet) however when i think that my Yaris still gives me the buzz as it happened when i bought it in 2003 then I forget the idea of getting rid of it...

How bout ur 53k benchmark? ;)

No big problems since I've had it. Done just over 20K in it myself. Got the car Dec 03

Had a wheel bearing fail at around 42K and that's about it.

Noticed over the last 6 months or so a few new rattles creeping in and recenlty had a problem with the rear washer keep getting blocked up which seems to have gone now.

Service history doesn't show any other faults.

Mine is GS
