had a under bonnet fire on the gt the other evening. Stupidly i had the heat shield around the exhaust manifold powder coated. It was supposed to be heat resistant to well above the temps put out by the exhaust. The old girl started coughin and spluttering after about 1/2 hr on the road and at motorway speed. i had a coouple of big backfires and then i pulled over. Around the oxygen sensor was on fire and the heat shield was on fire but only close to the sensor. Eventually got the fire out and had diagnostics done which showed the oxygen sensor is faulty. The symptoms are, when cold the car hesitates to pull away. I have now changed the sensor and the problem still remains. What could the problem be? all wiring appears to have been saved from fire damage.
