Replacing Clutch.

My clutch has finally started to slip at an alarming rate, fuel economy is in the Supra region and power is in the Vauxhall Agila band. Going to change it myself, as i can't afford to pay mr T for this one.

Could some let me know the part number and price for a 51 pre-facelft TSport standard Toyota Clutch Kit? (i'll ring mr T on monday for this, if no1 knows)

Has anyone got a Toyota fitting guide/checklist? Are there any hidden nasty's?

Any recommendations away from the standard part?

Sorry for the questions and i do appreciate any effort undertaken to help

Big Thanks in Advance.

I'd love a single plate blitz but at about 600 ish, Its too much for me. Just bought a house, got engaged, have a huge list of money draining direct debits......

So this is tempting me at the mo.

I want to shift the car at about 60k so as long as it lasts 10K i'll be happy.

And as we say at work 'How hard can it be?', 200% overbudget is goooood

mr miller i am sure you know what you are doing and have replace clutch before you could just change the plate and not the complete blitz unit with fly wheel etc... that will be much cheaper .

if thats your situration fair enough i will let you off anychance you poping round fitting new clutch for me too i find a nice girl who will cook you dinner naked for your trouble :D

i thought as the whole effort is in the labour i may aswell replace the whole shebang and then try to sell the parts for re-conditioning.

wahoo, clutch fitted and car back on the road. Replaced the plate, cover and bearing in the end. I enlisted a friendly peugeot mechanic to do it, which made things a lot easier. The only problem he had was removing the drive shaft seemed to need a special tool, so he had to take the box out too. Took 4 hours, rather than the 5 or 6 quoted by most garages. The cover didn't really need replacing but the bearing and plate were really worn.

Driving wise, it has fixed some niggly problems like the chattering when engine braking which is a bonus. The only problem is that it feels really odd with a clutch that works properly.

excuse my ignorance or stupidity or both!

How do you get to the clutch without taking the gearbox off? you have to disconnect it surely!

anyhow thumbsup for doing it yourself!

tbh i didn't really understand and was just along for the ride :) mostly on this i was a spectator, well beyond what I could have done. I didn't understand how big a job it was until i saw a load of bits i didn't know the car had on the floor.
