HEY GUYS ... right , i was driving along minding my own vusiness , came to a junction , paused , put car into first gear and turned the corner . The road was covered in pot holes and i drove straight through a few of them. the road was a mildly-steep hill which i went up and by the time iu had driven 500 yards it felt as if my front left wheel had something caught in it! i continued driving to a left 90 degree turn and it crunched again .. sounding like something was stuck .. no matter what speed i do the crunch occurs ... if i drive over undulating ground the crunch occurs which can be heard and physically felt through the steering wheel .... ANY IDEAS GUYS :ffs:

Sounds like you may have a stone stuck in there, possibly grinding against disk?

Either way, it obviously needs checking and the wheel and tracking too if you hit any potholes hard.

driveshaft maybe, go see your mechanic. If it was a stone stuck in the disc it would make a squealing noise and i doubt you would feel it what you are describing sounds pretty severe.

If the pot holes were that serious you have a case for some sort of compensation from the council I'd think....

Go back to the road and take photos of the offending holes and also the damage to your car and complain to your local council... get them to pay for the damage!

If I'm not mistaken to get compo' the pot-hole must have already been reported.

My mate was taken out on his bike with large amount of gravel on the road around a corner. Because it had not been reported already it mean't the council were unaware it was there and so could not be claimed against. Apparently if it has already been reported and the same thing happens again they can be claimed against as they have then not rectified the problem.

Fingers crossed its been reported already!

This may not be the case in yours, but my friend and i were travelling in his volvo when he drove over a raised man-hole at the side of the road, we were amaised that, on the face of it, the wheels and car seemed ok.

When we got out of the car, we realised that the wheel just looked 'buckled', no harm there really.

2 months later, and on closer inspection, the buckle was really a crack. Took it straight into a volvo garage and it cost around £450 for a new alloy and tyre. We put a claim Norfolk County Council who were doing the road works, and they gave us £430 back! pretty good we thought!!

My advice - take a closer look at you wheel, make sure its not cracked. If it is then get it to a garage straight away, then hopefully make a claim to your council for the cost

Exactly the same situation as me last year. I hit a large pothole and one of my brand new alloys was badly buckled. Wrote to the council and they refunded me the cost of a new alloy and tyre!
