My interior light, the one in the ceiling behind the front seats is not receiving power, so will not work in any of it's positions. The fuses all seem ok. Would a faulty relay or door switch cause this? Any idea where the relay is please?

I think you have a faulty mounting + point on the switch.

take the switch apart, have a look at the back, and you will see a metal bracket which has lost its strenght to hold the bulb in place.

Repair that, via Hot glue, or some thing similar

This particular light fitting is a pain in the butt. The rivets holding the spring clips into place work loose very quickly. When yout replace the bulb it allows the spring clip to grab on the surrounding plastic but not necessarily complete the circuit.

Be Aware!

if you get it wrong when fitting the new bulb you could end up shorting the clips out on the inside of the light unit, which is bare metal earthed to the car body. It will blow the 7.5amp dome fuse. This will take out the central locking and alarm system. You will get a bleeping from the R/H front wing when you try to lock the car if this fuse has gone.

My interior light blew roughly every 6 months. I've switched it off now because the cost of the bulbs is horrendous.

Lucas bulbs fit best. Halfords are a bit bigger and therefore give the problem above and are bl**dy awkward to fit.
