I'd love one of these....but a bit to expensive just now....I guess I will just have to wait another year or 2 for the prices to come down....

There is however one thing I dont like - the boot seems smaller than the old Rav 4 one, and I dont like those silly little storage compartments they have put under the boot mat. They should have sacked that idea and opened the floor space up and made the boot deeper....

Other than that-----I WANT ONE!!!! :yahoo:

Well, Nightstalker, I must say that I find that the boot space on my new RAV4 is much bigger than on the old one (the 2001 model). Also, those compartments under the boot floor are really handy for items like a footpump and a bottle of windscreen wash and that kind of thing which I don't like to have rattling around in the boot itself. Also awfully useful for hiding valuables like cameras.

The only thing I have never liked about the RAV4 are those awful front seats. I have to resort to a little cushion to get lumbar support, and on the passenger front seat the seat itself gives no support to the upper legs at all. I am 6' tall but then so are plenty of other people!

NMaria.Surprised that you are unhappy about the front seats .I bought my XT-R in Feb ( I think you were waiting for march i f I remember correctly?) I am 62 tears of age 6' tall and 15 stones.I have had lumber problems over the years and had Saabs as my last two cars because of the excellent seats.Even then I had to put cushions behind my back for support.Up to now I have been delighted with the big seats in the Rav. I agree with you about the boot space though, the hidden compartment is a boon for dirty wellies and waterproof clothing,( I'm an Angler)

I dont think Toyota could have opened up this space because it is below the bumper lip.I would have liked them to design it so that a spare or a space saver could have been stowed away in that space!

Hello Jock1 - glad that you are happy with the seats. I think much depends on one's shape and build, and clearly what is good for one person is not so good for another! But if Toyota put in an adjustable lumbar support (standard on many cars nowadays, I think) we could all be happy!

But it detracts only a teeny bit from a fabulous car. I've only done 800 miles in mine but get at least 47mpg on average. That's driving like an old woman of course but then I am trying to run it in gently so that it will last a very long time! Noticed that with 4 people on board the fuel consumption went down to 44mpg. Interesting.

As for the spare wheel, we were lucky enough to find a showroom model with a spare wheel on the back door, and I think that looks much nicer than a bare bum. But I can see your point about using the space for a get-you-home wheel. A friend of ours bust a tyre recently on a sharp rock somewhere in the middle of nowhere so without a spare wheel (he drives a Saab) he would have been seriously stuck.
