Engine Problems D4d 2003

Hi all

Last saturday afternoon i was doing 70 km/h on my avensis 2.0 D4D and the engine made a tac... tac... tac... ratling noise on the right side of the engine and the trotlle went to 4000 rpm on its own and then the engine light came on .

I dont know if it was the timing belts or the fuel pump, since it has been problems reported on that issue. waiting for monday so that my dealer takes a look at the car.

will post monday to see wath happened, but it doenst seem good the car is 3,5 years old and 95.000km but the warranty is 5 years or 160.000km

Update

Today my dealer sayd that they dont know what is the problem the computer says its a fuel leak but they cant find it. they told me that there are 9 more car here in portugal with the same problem and they cant find a solution.

The car doesnt has fuel pressure, tomorrow im going to my dealer and if they havent solved it i will demand a replacement car for the time mine is on the shop. Or else im going to make a formal complaint.

Well...

I went to my dealer today and they still dont know whats wrong :ffs:

The front of the car was all off and they were staring at it, i asked do you know whats wrong and they said "it looks bad". :censor:

So i went to the costumer relations and demand for a replacement veicle since they dont know how long the car is going tp stay in, they wanted to give me a yaris and i refused it and said i wanted an avensis estate like mine because i nedded it since we are five and a dog They told me they were going to try to give the demonstration car D4D 177 Cv but i dont have many hoppe on it.

Well the drama will continue tomorrow :(

Thanks for the info, I have an 05 D4D so will be following the thread with interest!

incidentally mine makes that tac tac noise under heavy throttle ALL the time through the gears, and has done from day one....makes me wonder!!!

Well just came from the dealer with the loaned corolla sw 1.4 D4d (better than i thought).

And they seem to have identified the problem, and it seems to be the fuel pump but still no sure about that, they will continue to investigate.

my avensis d4d 2003 makes a slight tac tac on idle,

maybe its the dual mass flywheel ?

Went there today and they were with another car changing parts from one to another testing it and it seems its really the fuel pump.
