Starting Problems - Gen 7 Celica

Hi all,

im still pretty new to the whole car game but have found out this morning the car has problems starting......more specifically...the car dont start at all.......i turn the key and the engine starts to to turn over to start but then dies slowly to result in a fast sounding relay flicker or some kind of electric buzzing before the car just dies out....The car would seem like the Battery has gone but the car has full electronic functionality still (ie the lights work and the A/C and radio etc).

It cant be the starter motor can it? Sparks maybe? Or not enough power from the Battery (result of a dead Battery or slowly dying one)? I am going to attempt jump starting it and seeing if it has any effect.

Should i worry that this could be a serious problem???

If anyone has had any slight experience with what im experiencing now then any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks......the car is a 143bhp GT model 2001.

All the best

Keri

Sounds like it is Battery... The starting process is a huge drain on power, so is the first to go if the Battery is on its way out, with every other function appearing to be working fine.

If you want to double check things, you can run a miltimeter over the dizzy - should be putting out around 13Amps (or is it volts, I can't remember! ) to get a good start. Anything less than 12, and its gonna struggle...

Jump start it, and run it round for 30 mins or so, and I bet you'll never have to think of it again!
