Mk2 Alternator Repair

My first post on this forum so please advise any foobars.

To cut a long story short I had to take the alteranator off my own mk2 up to Leighton Buzzard in order to bring back a second 'donor' car as this ones alternator had failed.

I diagnosed the rectifier assembly as defective.

Out of curiosity I enquired at my main Toyota dealer about the availability of parts........£220 for the rectifier assembly or £200 for an exchange unit..mmmmmmm.

A bit of research on eBay revealed a couple of traders that did alternator repairs. A couple of enquiries later and 'lectrostart' said they could supply the rectifier assembly for £26 inc vat and postage !

The alternator is a Denso 27060-43060 as fitted to the manual 2.8.

The electrostart part number is 132082 rectifier.

Ps. Finally took the plunge and ordered brand new replacement sill mouldings, £200 for both ! I can see why they rot so quickly, the metal strip has been exposed where the manufacturer drilled the screw holes making a nice entry point for water !
