Got my Chilli Red Aygo+ today, and it's great!!!!! Couldn't be happier.

First thing I did was take it on the nearby motorway for a spin and it was much better than I expected it would be. I just did a steady 60-70mph though as I didn't want to rag the clean new engine!!! My old Citroen AX was a 1.1 and quite noisy on the motorway but the Aygo was quieter. :)

The dealer was great. There were a few black marks on the rear number plate that he couldn't get off so he has ordered me a new one, and it came with half a tank of petrol which will do me plenty of miles.

I love the new car smell :) I went past a Peugeot 107 when driving it and I thought the Aygo looks so much better :D :D :D

So, overall, very happy just one day in. This wouldn't be a discussion forum though if I didn't point out a few annoyances!

--- Opening the fuel cap is far more fiddly than it should be.

--- The second key which is used by my parents on the rare occasions they want to borrow it doesn't have a remote for the central locking.

--- When you pull the seats forward so someone can get in the back, when you try and put them back the back of the seat returns to a bolt upright position that I have to adjust everytime!

I will get some pics up tomorrow!!! It is just in it's 'out of the box' form at the moment.

You've spotted a few of the 'annoyances' - there are about 7 more !

Sounds like you have already!

Slow down, it’s a new engine and you should be doing at least 500 miles before doing motorway speeds. It’s only a 1 litre 3 cylinder engine so treat it nicely until all the oily bits are run in

- fuel cap, you eventully figure it out and get used to it - seems weird now it was so difficult to start with

- 2nd key - theres a second key?? where the hell did I put that????

- seat adjustment- still annoying after 1 year - sorry only cure - noone travels in back

Welcome to the board and congrats on your new Aygo.

SJ x

p.s. re the ragging - I didnt think it was true of new cars nowadays that you had to keep speeds low for first 500miles?

Well, I use the motorway for 2 quick junctions to get into the city centre every morning, so I will be taking it on the motorway before 500 miles. I use the normal roads on the way home because it isn't rush hour then, but it takes far too long going that way in the morning rush hour. I am going to take as much care as I can to take care of the engine whilst it's a baby though :)

I must admit, I am surprised that, you do have to take such care of the engine of the new car for a whole 500 miles. Motorways and dual carriageways are apart of the daily commuting route for many.

The back seats will hardly get used ever, so it isn't much of an issue for me really. I am very tall, so my seat is far too far back for anyone other than a toddle to sit in the seat behind with any sort of degree of comfort, so if someone did get in the back it would probably be via the passenger side to sit on that side.

I know this car was designed to be cheap with the light only coming on for the drivers door etc., but the seat not returning to the position the driver set it seems more like something Toyota just forgot to do. Ah well.

Greetings All... :)

I'm new here too, and have just got my first Aygo last Monday.

I got a 2nd hand Aygo Sport 3dr in Carbon Onyx, which also had AC installed.

I'm thouroughly delighted with it, and have to agree with all of the above posts, except that I don't have to worry about 'running in' the engine ;) Mine was registered in Sept 05, and has 23000 on the clock. I believe it was a demonstrator for my local Toyota dealer, and as such, it is immaculate throughout.

The petrol cap IS a fiddly affair, but since it won't get used too often (if the milage figures are correct!) that's not too much of a hassle!

I've done a couple of town/country runs in her, and am surprised and thrilled with how much poke there is on open road, and how well she handles :)

I must check in the boot today and make sure everything is secure around the spare wheel; something makes a loud 'clump' everytime you go over a bump!

Other than that, I love it...a fantastic, funky, fun little car :)

Hello to you both. :D

I've ownered my Aygo for a few months now, and you will soon discover that the annoying little things just become part of the charm of Aygo ownership.

The biggest annoyance I have is that there are less accessories available for the Aygo, compared to the 107 and C1

With regards to motorway thrashing from new, with todays modern synthetic oils, unless you are thrashing your little beast from cold and doing repeated high speed ( 85 plus ) or revs. you will not hurt it. The tollerances on modern engines are designed to cope so don't worry. Modern engines are designed around the modern type of commuting, which envolves motorway use.

The spotty mechanic at you dealership will have thrashed it round the block for you anyway, so dont worry about it.

And if anything does go wrong that is what your warranty is for.

But any way

Welcome and enjoy your little Rice Rockets

Cheers

The seat not returning to the set position seems to be a bit of a toyota trademark unfortunately.

Exactly. It doesn't really matter in all honesty. Last time i had a new car (3 years ago) was an MX5. For the first 50 miles i didn't go over 6000rpm. Then after that for the next 1000miles i didn't go over 7000rpm (which was the redline). It loosened it up nicely in all honesty, economy improved too.

See you mention about the second key not being a central locking remote - anyone know if it's possible to get another remote without replacing the whole system? Not a major issue, but I agree it would be useful if it's not too expensive :)

Your dealer should be able to supply you with an

extra key-remote and program it into your car.

Over here they're abut €60 (so roughly £40) and as

I understand you can have upto 4 remotes on one car.

Is it a 3 or 5 door - and where are the piccies???

I imagine it would cost a lot more than that over here!

Sorry for the delay in getting the piccies up.... Here it is one week in:

If that's the case you're REALLY getting ripped off in the UK.

For parts that are "side specific" like rev counters or glovebox lids

I can understand prices to be a little higher as there is less demand.

But something generic like a KEY?

This is a rip-off nation, we get ripped off for everything in the UK. It's a sickner.

Loving the car - looks like despite what I want, that we will be getting the quartz one as the other half prefers the look of that, although, if I can find someone who will do a nice flip paint job on it, anything is possible!!!

Anyone know how much another remote costs over here then - before I make the Netherlands my next holiday destination...! :D

As you'd have to have the key actvated on your car AND it

has to be cut to fit the locks, I'd think twice about that :P

Think someone was saying it's close to £100, remember it was some ridiculous amount for a key!
