Engine Sounds

I’m trying to get an idea of how my Celica GT engine should sound, I don’t know if I’m being paranoid but I think its sounds bad, its a 1994 model btw.

I just had the timing belt done and I’m noticing a kind of whining sound, it was kind of there before but a lot fainter, now its louder, almost sound like a supercharger sound maybe, more pronounced at lower speeds. Car feels fine though, just that whine is a bit disconcerting.

I popped the bonnet and listened to the engine, I got such a lack of knowledge on this stuff, was wondering if you had an idea what the following noises might be: -

Clicking, quite loud

Constant electrical humming sound

Scraping sound, like a belt scraping a cover I guess

I know this sounds dum but I just want to get an idea what I’m hearing.

cheers

trying to identify a strange sound over the internet is tricky to say the least.

The best bit of advice I could give you is get to some of the car shows over the summer. They are a wealth of knowledge ( and it gives you the chance to compare strange sounds with other owners ! )

Sorry I can't really help much .

Good luck
