Carina Cd Warning Light

Hi

I have an M reg Carina E CD.

Recently I have noticed what I assume to be a warning light on my dash.

Its orange coloured and shaped like an engine.

A couple of my mates told me its probably the engine management system, but I wanted to ask here to be sure.

I have checked that all my fluid levels are as they should be, and that is im ashamed to say as far as my expertise goes.

About one month ago my Battery died due to stupidly leaving the boot lid slightly open for a week while the car was parked in the garage.

The AA came out and juiced it back up with one of there portable Battery charger gizmos, and since then iv had no trouble.

From memory, I dont remember seeing this warning light appear before the dead Battery situation, so maybe I just have to reset the warning - I dont know how to do that either.

Im strapped for cash at the moment and so dont really want to take my car to a garage just yet.

Since moving within walking distance to work, I only use the car very occasionally, so perhaps I should just ignore the light seeing as the car feels like its running fine, and the light just serves as an annoyance in the corner of my eye.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Its been a few weeks since I posted this question, and the car still works :)

Sometimes the light appears (but not always) when I brake, but that might just be a coincidence seeing as it sometimes appears when im not braking.
