Fuel

What fuel do you people use in your T Sports?

I've recently changed from Morrisons/Tesco rubbish to Shell V Power. It has made the engine run smoother and I get slightly more mpg.

Anyone using BP ultimate ones?

For 2 years I have mostly used Shell V Power (on 1.3L yaris) and had no problems whatsoever. I tried BP Ultimate for a few times but felt no difference except more mpg. On next visit on Shell I will try V Power Racing but I will be able to tell difference after minimum 2-3 refuels.

tesco's 99ron...... great fuel

oh and tescos and sainsburys fuel comes out of some bp depots...... infact most fuel comes out of the same depots.

I just use the normal Shell fuel. We've not got a supercar you know!

i was gona say...99ron+ is more for high performance/tuned cars and also import cars. the difference to a standard tsport will be little

as stated, it will improve the mpg more than the performance, but even then maybe 1 or 2 more mpg. i always bought 97ron and seemed fine, i was happy with the mpg and felt getting 99ron wasnt worth the extra money.

interesting to see the results tho

i run mine on v power but i have to since i had the compressor fitted,

it has to be 98 or higher.

If i'm out and about and need fuel and theres no Shell i'll put BP ultimate in and add

abit of octane boost.[ i keep a bottle in my boot in case ]

I use BP ultimate and V power in the s15, and to be honest it does seem better when

running on the V power

I put V power in mine if I'm going past a Shell garage, but else it's either Esso super, or at a push Sainsbury's super. I like to treat my car to the good stuff. :) I get better MPG from the Shell, and surprisingly the Sainsbury's seems to be a bit better than Esso. I put the BP Ultimate in once, not long after I bought the car, and it was rubbish, ran a lot rougher. Not had a chance to try it again since, as all the local BP garages are now Jet.

i put Sainsbries Ultimate in mine as theres a garge round the corner form work and its a decent price. As has been said before atthe end of the day most petrol comes from the same place...... if its advertised at 97ron it has to be 97ron simple as. although i was on the red light and they had no super today so i had to put normal 95 in...... i shed a tear as doing so :crybaby::crybaby:

Unless your car is tuned for it the additional octane rating will do sweet FA.

The advantage of using the better stuff (Ultimate, V-Power etc) is that they have conditioners and additives in the fuel which keep fuel lines, injectors etc cleaner than ordinary fuel, this is where the extra MPG comes from and any slight increase in performance.

I use V-Power, im not fussed over a few pence if it keeps the car running well, which it does. It's something iv always said, there's no point paying thousands on a car then filling it with crude (unless you have a diesel!) It's the same as tyres, pay good money for tyres, fuel and oil and you'll have happy motoring (even if you've got a peugeot, but thats pushing it!)

My car is only standard but i can tell the difference between V-Power to 95 unleaded but I cant tell the difference with BP's super unleaded and 95 at all. Well to be honest i think BP is rubbish. V-Power hands down! lol

has anyone heard about that new petrol thats 105 or something like that?? or is that a rumour???

You can buy additives to make 95 ron petrol to 106ron.

Btw, when does the reserve kick in on the T Sport. Just went out and I have 6 miles left and the car wasnt accelerating as it would normaly, reserve?

V power is prob the best fuel at the moment as it has conditioners to remove carbon deposits from the engine.

i was lucky enough to get a full tank of F1 racing fuel, and that did make a difference due to the lack of any impurities, but it wasn't anything more of an improvement then taking all the junk out of the boot etc.

the only time you need high octane fuel is if your engine has been tuned to suit it as if you reduce the octane from what the engine was tuned at it can cause miss fires and knocking.

so go for clean fuel if you want to spend the money, but just look at american cars that run on total crap, but run for hundreds of thousands of miles.

Thats my opinion.

Brad =)

*You can also get this stuff for diesels now - tend to notice when I put my foot down no black stuff comes out the back

Ran the BP Ultimate in ThunderT I think it cleaned the gunk but no more mpg and it cost £3 extra to fill the tank. Think I got a bit of extra power up a steep hill but that is all. Keen to try the V power but we don't have many Shell garages around so kinda negates the drive to go find it

I usually use Sainsbury's super (97) as its only about 2p more than normal. I find BP Ultimate too expensive and I don't think Shell V Power is stocked at most petrol stations where I live, only Optimax.

It seems to me like the sainsbury's super is a tad more responsive at lower revs when you floor it, but I notice no difference at the top end compared to normal fuel.

However unlike many I find I actually get less fuel economy with the higher octane petrol, though this may be because I subconsciously drive harder with this fuel and of course the higher octane fuel should in theory burn up quicker. If I was just cruising for 300 miles then maybe the higher octane fuel would get me extra mpg.

I always stick Esso 97ron in mine, I live to far away from a Shell garage and the local Tesco's dont do the 99ron.

Always get some extra milegae with the higher octance fuel which is always a nice bonus and for about £2 more or whatever it is.

I have been using Shell unleaded in mine for the last 6 weeks and have managed to obtain an average MPG of 69.9 MPG indicated in car. (1.0 Yaris Ion).....................normal MPG is 55 - 58 MPG

When I read that I nearly panicked, 69.9MPG in a T Sport  what am I doing wrong

Those 1l Yaris are very economical arent they!

I use Shell V-Power 99 and also normal 95.

Different is that with V-power 99 and my old T-Sport 2002 took 0,2-0,3dl less per 100km compared to 95.

With my new TS (2 weeks old) cant really yet tell the difference.

As you know (at least here in Finland) V-power 99 is more expensive so it goes even with using 95.

But with better burning fuel and less consuming I save earth!
