Just ordered my new Aygo 1.0 VVT-i + 3dr MMT in chilli red with air con. Sooooooooo excited :D Paid near enough £7450 for it-good price? Only downside is it's gonna take 4 weeks to arrive (ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh :crybaby: ) I'll be counting down the days!

Seems reasonable, got within a fiver of that price at drivethedeal.com and similar at broadspeed.

Have you gone back to the idea of an Aygo then Lauren or you still considering the 100hp Panda, Twingo or 500 (btw - the 500 is expected to start at £11K in the UK!)

Not really. The Aygo has gone from top to bottom of my list. Put simply there is much better value for money to be had elsewhere. Especially so as it looks like i can get a 10-11K car in the 8.5-9ishK region.

Shortlist is:

500 (with the panda 100hp running gear) may be pricey but love the look of it.

Panda 100hp. Great value, good spec and good discount.

Twingo GT. Not sure of price yet, but otherwise does look good.

Swift 1.5 GLX very cheap for the money, only downside is it isn't a Sport which is 11.5K or 11K with discount.

Corsa SXI TDCI. Right on the edge of affordability. Good spec, discounts are good.

Yaris 1.3vvti t-spirit. Great discounts 2.4K off list! Annoying that you have to get the t-spirit to get climate control though.

Aygo 'Sport'. Cheap running costs, discounts only reasonable, worst specwise.

Doesn't seem like an honest comparison;

the running costs on all of the other cars are WAY higher...

I agree Jan. Plus if there is so much of a discount to be had how much of an effect will that have on residuals? Or how much profit is the manufacturer making from it in the first place to be able to offer the discounts?

To be honest it all boils down to the car you enjoy the most, no matter how much stuff you do on paper it can't compare to actually driving the car and finding if it's right for you or not.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I don't think people should bad mouth a car before actually driving anything else. Even then it's just the opinion of one person and if everyone liked the same thing the world would be a boring place!

Well I would always buy from the heart anyway (hence going from a MINI Convertible all kiited up to a Smart ForTwo) so no matter what road tests I read or what people tell me I will form my own opinion and live with the consequences

Yeah, hope you enjoy it and get some pics up on the site too once you have got it - would be nice to see a + 3-door in red as thats what I am thinking of getting and you do not see them that often . . .I guess people pick other colours to differentiate the fact they have not brought the base model.

Are you having external extras - spoilers/skirts/alloys/central exhaust/etc.

Hell noooo! Lol! Thought about the alloys, then really hated them when I saw them. I'd be worried bout the damaging the skirts on all the speed bumps, pavements and god knows what down my road, especially with the serious lack of parking available. Have always had a good laff at spoilers but I've gotta admit the Aygo one isn't too bad. But the Aygo is pretty enough without all the extras so I'm happy. Saves me a bit of cash too :P

I will get pics up as soon as, hopefully only 3 weeks now!!!! Should have my reg number by next week!

Running costs are not a mega issue though given i will get an essential car user allowance with my job.

Also i would get 38.7p per mile in an aygo and 42.7 (IIRC) for a panda (ie over 1200cc). Add to this that i would also receive a lump sum of £750 pa for servicing of the aygo and just over £1000 for the panda.

That extra money would more than cover higher road tax costs.

So higher running costs would effectively be offset by what i'd receive from work.

Sounds like you have made your decision there Lauren as to what you'll be driving next

Very Nice agreement!!! Over here you get paid a certain

amount per kilometer, no matter what kind of car you'd have...

I drive my car privately, only get paid compensation for living about 15 miles from work.

With my previous cars I'd have to pay a bit myself to break even, with my Aygo I can

pay all my fixed expenses without any problem and even have some gas money left :P

But even if the Panda was cheaper I'd have gone for the Aygo, as I don't like

Fiat at all (except for the new 500) and the Panda's too boxy to my taste...

Oooh!! The excitement continues. My registration details have just arrived so I now know the number plate :D Kinda makes it all more real. Gotta phone the dealer and find out about finance and then sort out the insurance. I can't wait to drive it now!!!

Hmmm the registration number isn't working. Nobody's accepting it :S Any ideas as to why? The Toyota dealer hasn't got a clue but they're rather worried by the sound of it. Twas probably my mum phoning up and using a "tone". I'm kinda worried now!!!
