When i spoke to him yesterday he said the redstuff was a new compound and the cold braking is just as good as the greenstuff but much better at high speeds. Ive gone for the red anyway, im sure they will be better than what i have at the moment.

I have black diamond drilled and grooved front and back with greenstuff pads and I don't think you could get much better when I bought my pads the bloke from ebc advised against the red ones saying they are better suited for the track!

just to let you know i have fitted my redstuff pads, they are only on original disks but they are brilliant. When they are cold the stop very quickly but i drove up to birmingham yestrday and they stopped me so quickly. I would definitely recommend going for ebc pads and it seems either green or red will do the job

So is it worth getting pads done without the discs? would it be worth it?

You will definitely notice a big difference with new pads only and imo should be done for all CTS' as the oe pads are disgustingly bad. My front discs were in a bad state so I chose to put Black diamond drilled and grooved discs on the front and EBC green stuff on all 4 corners and it is a much better experience when applying the brakes (i.e. I no longer worry about not stopping). :)
