i noticed some mechanical parts behind the wheel were completey rusted over, no idea what they are just that they were.

You probably mean the steering knuckles and/or drive shafts.

These are subject to all elements and warm up quite substantially due

to their application, so they are prone to rust easier than other bits of the car.

But since these bits are made from thick metal

I would'nt worry about it; they'll last long enough...

The rust warranty is only valid if there are holes. And if the car have holes there´s alredy serious problems.

ah ok fair enough.

im just bothered about the wheels nuts because it just looks stupid with them on.

will just have to wait until toyota send some over to the UK to get them changed

Reference the rust problem on driveshaft etc. Instead of painting, you could use the spray wax used for door cavities. It is waterproof, contains a corrosion inhibitor, it a penetrative (like WD40) and is less of a job to re-apply than paints. (carefull not to spray the brake discs)

I used it on some rusty scooter suspension springs and it works pretty well.
