I just bought my first CTS for £8330 ,April 2005 model with 16500 miles in sunburst red and it is totally mint. The origional price was £9995 ,I traded in my 1997 rusty battered VW GL TDI with the mot up 31st of April ,they gave me £800 against the CTS wich brought the price down to £9195.They also had an offer on,for any second hand cars sold from the 19th-31st of march also got £500 deducted from the price, this brought the price down to £8695.I told the sales man I wanted more off and would give him a cheque today if I was happy,he knocked £95 off to £8600.I then asked for a years tax and Toyota CTS floor mats and a tank of fuel...he went away and came back and said yes to the mats and the fuel but no tax at £205 .I had my cheque book in my hand and as I put it into my pocket and said I was going to look at another car at a honda dealers up the road he gave in an said ok we will tax it if you gave me a cheque...

I wrote him a cheque for £200 deposit and collected the car on Sat 27th March and paid the balance by debit card.Total price for car including tax £8395...the petrol tank was full on the guage and it had new CTS mats in it when I collected the car, take the full tank of fuel out of the price and the new mats and I think I got the car for £8330.

I think I have done well, was this a good deal for a mint CTS

£205? :crybaby:

Welcome to TOC and I hope you enjoy your new car

Incidentally when you put your car through on the debit card, did you have to speak to the bank? Because when I bought mine I paid the deposit a few days before collecting it and then put through £7600 on my debit card and it went through without any kind of fuss. I thought this was strange as most people I work with get their cards frozen for buying a book from a shop they haven't used before, yet I bought a car and never heard a thing from my bank.

I phoned my bank and told them that I was gona use my debit card for a large amount and they told me it was ok and I was only limited to £300 a day when withdrawing cash from a machine.
