Avoiding Rubbing On E11. Please Advise

Recommended Posts

I have a 99 1.3 Corolla hatch. I want to buy a set of speedline comp2 alloys in the following spec 19555 15", I also intend to lower her on 30mm Eibach springs.

Will I:

1) Suffer from arch rubbing?

2) Suffer from uneven tire ware?

Thanks in advance,

Joe

Uneven tyre wear - NO, will not happen, no worries there (won't even require re-tracking).

Tyre rubbing - very slightly and briefly when going over a large dip or sag in the road if you have two people in rear and boot full of luggage!

-

Also a few 'wheel' figures (mass appologies from me if you know this already :!Removed!: ) For 'fwd' Corollas built between 1983 - 2002:

'PCD' (Bolt hole pattern size ) = 4X100

OFFSET (How far wheel 'sits' within arch = 35mm - 38mm

Centre bore (hub centre hole-'spigot' rings in side wheel will be used for this) = 54.0

Also remember most 15inch Wheel and tyre sizes come with 195 50 series tyre whereas '97 onwards corollas require a '55' series tyre when fitting 15inch wheels (as you quite rightly stated in your first post) which can 'up' the price a little!

Good Luck

P.S. I fitted precisely this size set-up to a '98 model so I know all above from my own experiance  , 15 inch will improve handling without a harsh ride.

P.P.S. Dare I say this but beware fitting '17's (17 inch size) on a Fwd '83-'02 Corolla; while 'lookin' good there have been a couple of members on this forum who have discovered it puts a lot of strain on the front suspension/steering to the effect that they ruined track rod ends and wheel bearings (and track rod ends on a corolla normally last many, many years; so it gives you some idea of the strain they give!).
