Engine Oil & Coolant (antifreeze)

Hi There,

I'm a RAV 4 owner and am a bit confused about the engine oil. Can anyone tell me which engine oil is recommended for RAV 4? Also need advise about coolant as well. My Engine is getting heated and i think i need to change both of this. Thanx in advance for the kind reply. Details will b appreciated.

i cannot help you on the coolant , but as for the engine oil i was going to go for 5/30 but on a visit to the dealer one of the technicians recomended 10/40 as i have 95000 on the clock . in my case (rav4 gx 1996)was the oil he recomended . hope this helps

Add 50% ethylene glycol based anti freeze to your system. Even in high ambient temperatures the anti freeze acts as a corrosion inhibitor and system lubricant. Toyota tend to use the pink stuff but be guided by the colour of the coolant in your vehicle. If you can't see any, just drain out the coolant and use what you can get to 50% of the capacity.
