If you do any motorway miles it's definitely worth taking out some kind of cover. Supposing you did have a breakdown, I believe it costs over £100 to be towed off to the next junction whereupon you'll be asked to fork out more to continue or simply left there.

I use AA Relay, £70 per year but that includes a 10 or 15% discount as I also have BSAC membership, the RAC will have a comparable product, and it's not until you need it (I have in the past) that you'll realise the full benefit. Simply put, if they cant get you on your way, they'll put you on the truck and take you to the destination of your choice.

Also I recently found out about Auto Aid, the URL Here. They say they do recovery for £32...

Cheers.

I always fill up at tesco's (i know the rumours petrol isn't as good etc..., but it does sell 99 RON and my car has had no problems), collect the club card points and then buy RAC using the resulting vouchers. this saves an absolute fortune. I think when i last renewed it was £27 in vouchers for £140 cover (Breakdown, recovery and partner covered no homestart though). When they have come out for my girlfriends car, they have always arrived quickly and fixed it on the spot, so it saved a mechanics bill too.
