Rear Brake Disk Removal.....

Hi peaps. I Had posted a topic a while ago the topic title was ANOTHER STRANGE NOISE...

Went in for its 50k service on monday and all is well but they couldnt get the car to make the noise.

The car will start to produce the noise after a mile or two which is 1 click at each rear brake as i slow down.

Now the rear disks have a rather large looking hub and i'm wondering if the handbrake is internal so to speak.

So the handbrake works internal and the foot brake works the calipers.

If this is the case i may get the rear disks replaced as it was the only thing they did point out on the service. They stated on that free check thingy that disks at rear are just starting to carrode.

If i get them replaced i can then get them to check the handbrake system.

Strange thing is that they did not mention anything about the rear disks on the mot it had the same day.

Once this is sorted the car will be up 4 sale as may job location has changed and i don't want to put loadsa mileage on her and i don't ever take her out if i know i have to leave her in a car park anyway. She will be replaced with a car i can just leave anywhere. Also told that i have to sell her cos i gotta grow up which i think is rather harsh, i mean, whats wrong with being 28 and still watching danger mouse. lol. :D

does it make 1 click when you brake and that's it or does it keep clicking.

Does it do it all the time or just sometimes.

Mine does this, after I had my uprated discs put on, and also when I had replacement discs fitted by toyota on my previous t-sport.

I'm sure I read somewhere on another forum, different car but same problem, I think it's the shims (I think that's what they are called) The thin metal strips in between the pads and caliper i'm sure it's them that needs greasing.

I can see the copper grease on mine but I think it needs more on.

Mine doesn't click all the time, but usually after the car has been standing for a while (a few hours or more).

HTH
