The cylinder head bolts (which you will NOT re-use -buy new!) on the 4AGE engine ARE 10mm! ...

...but...

...they are 'double hexagonal' type!

Thus you will need to use a '12 point' socket (I presume you've been trying a 6 point/sided socket?)

**These bolts almost look like a sort of 'star' design in their shape which can be confusing!**

Hope this is the answer to your question.

With regards to this 'style' of bolt/nut you may find that some of the pulleys on the engine are the same.

Memory fades but I think the timing belt tensioner is fixed in this way (and you will need a long socket for a dowl/rod potrudes through it, so to speak.)

Incidently 4AGE cyl head bolt Torque settings are:

Stage1 - 29 Nm (in seq.)

stage2 - Another 90 diagrees (in seq.)

&

stage3 - A further 90 diagrees (in seq.)

As another bit of info some people I have been talking to have re0used the bolts on these 4AGE Units with no probs!

...so it's up to you (personally I would buy new)!
