hey,

I got my aygo sport serviced in december of 2006, and since then everytime i switch the front wiper on it makes that horrid sound as if its rubbing against the glass to much. you know the vibrating frictional one. i don't know how to fix it and i swear something must have been changed during the service.

however after a few sprays of wiper fluid it seems to be ok, but im more annoyed that a) it might break, B) this problem only started after the service.

any tips would be most appriciated.

If you are still on the original wiper blade fit a new one.

I got fed-up with wiper issues and found a different solution. I hardly ever use the wipers now that i've applied rain repellant to the windscreen. It's great stuff.

If you've never used it before, it is a quick drying clear liquid applied to the glass that makes the water bead, which improves visibility. There are loads of brands available. It allows the water to roll off the windscreen at about 25mph. Apart from making the wiper largely redundant, it makes driving in bad weather safer and much less stressfull.

It was a "top tip" given to me by a coach driver.

Wiper Blades wear out, well the rubber becomes hard and less flexible. You should change them at least on a yearly basis, though every 6 months is the better option.

Put some Rain-X on then you'll use the wipers less and the blades will last longer. Rain-X is about £2.

Wiper Blades are consumables. You say your car has been serviced so I assume the original blade has done 10,000 miles or has been on over a year. Annual replacement is recommended as they do detriorate. Spend about a fiver on a new one and notice the difference.

I also recommend Rainex - fantastic stuff. Some people don't like it as it causes smeering when freshly applied, but even on side windows the fact water just runs off makes driving in rain much safer.

As soon as I get motivated to wash our Aygo - it's only 12 weeks old, so not that dirty yet (!), I'll be applying Rainex to all glass and exterior mirrors.

ah ok.

right next dumb question, what wiper blade do i need for the aygo? will any one do from Halfords say?

and this rainex stuff sounds like a gem, will definatly have to try some.

It needs to be a 26" blade, if you go to Halfords they should have the Aygo listed in their guide. Otherwise try some online places. You could always replace the wiper with one of the flatblade style blades that they are fitting to a lot of new cars. I have one on mine and it does seem to wipe better.

have been looking online for the flat bed wiper but can't seem to find one that will fit aygo, any tips?

Try wiperblades.co.uk.

I got a "universal fit" type 26" flat blade from them and it works fine.I had to "unbend" it a bit before fitting, to make sure it lies flat on the screen.
