The pictures are not as sparkly and clean as a Haynes Manual but you should get the idea ;)

The description and tools are what I have used and these may be different to what is recommended so all work carried out by anyone else using the same tools will be at their own risk.

PUT HANDBRAKE ON

jack UP AND SUPPORT CAR

REMOVE WHEEL

BRAKE CALIPER

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads002.jpg

14mm RING AND OPEN ENDED SPANNERS WERE USED TO UNDO THE TOP & BOTTOM BOLTS ON THE PISTON ASSEMBLY

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads005.jpg

USE A SUPPORT FOR THE PISTON ASSEMBLY WHILE WORKING

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads007.jpg

REMOVE THE OLD PADS WITH ANTI SQUEAL SHIMS

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads009.jpg

HEAVY DUTY 17mm RING SPANNER FOR TOP & BOTTOM CALIPER SUPPORT BOLTS

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads010.jpg

WIRE BRUSH & CLEAN OFF PAD SUPPORTS APPLY VERY LIGHT COAT OF COPPER GREASE

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads011.jpg

REMOVE OLD DISC (IF THIS IS SEIZED THERE ARE 2 THREADED DRAWING HOLES)

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads012.jpg

OLD & NEW

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads015.jpg

REMOVE BRAKE RESERVOIR FILLER CAP AND COMPRESS PISTONS BACK

(I USED MY OLD TRUSTY PIPE PLIERS)

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads017.jpg

COMPRESSING THE PISTONS CAN CAUSE THE RESERVOIR TO OVERFLOW

I USED AN OLD BUT CLEAN SPRAYER TO REMOVE THE EXCESS

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads016.jpg

LIGHTLY SMEAR COPPER GREASE ON THE REAR OF PADS (NOT THE FRONT FOR OBVIOUS REASONS)

DO THE SAME WITH THE ANTI SQUEAL SHIMS AND ASSEMBLE

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads018.jpg

ALL DONE

RoadsterFrontDiscsPads019.jpg

LAST BUT NOT LEAST LIGHTLY SMEAR COPPER GREASE ON THE FLANGE FACE OF THE WHEEL (Just for you Davey ;) )

AFTER REPLACING WHEELS PRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL UNTIL IT TAKES UP THE GAP ON THE NEW PADS

From removing the wheel to stripping, cleaning and assembling all parts then replacing the wheel took me just under fifteen minutes.

Doing this job is not a race so take your time and do it safely

Thanks Les for taking the time to photograph the various stages of your disc swop. You are a five-star Club Manager!

Members I'm sure will be very grateful for your thoughfulness.

So, thanks again - and don't forget to wash the grease off your hands before eating those - well deserved - Easter eggs!!

Regards

Whilst doing this its alwyas a good idea to check the slider pins are free moving. Removing cleaning and regreasing is best.

Good guide though!
