Help! Knocking Noise From Front Of Car?

Hi needing some help on a problem that has recently happened in the past couple of days,

I own a 97 Celica ST

Noticed a slight knocking on Sunday of this week whilst driving but wasn’t sure what to make of it,

Driving to work the knocking became worse and to the point of trying to get home I had to limp it all the way.

The knocking is consistent with the speed of the car not the engine, gets louder when slowing down, I thought it might be a bearing but I would think that it would be more constant. Then I thought maybe a drive shaft but neither seem loose.

is it possible for a clutch to make a knocking noise as the release bearing is whining when the clutch pedal is up?

i am really confused about this as I have not a lot of experience with Toyota going wrong,

hope you can help cheers
