I thought I'd run it by your lot ;)

A chap at work is into his cars and has an Mkiii Mr2...

He wants some downforce on the back... but he doesn't want a rice tastic chav add on spoiler..

Does anyone know of any decent fitted spoilers that are functional, but don't look too silly????

This is just my opinion but unless you do loads of track time with the Roadster, a “functional” spoiler doesn’t exist for every day driving.

The MKIII grips the road like snot to a blanket at the best of times and as far as I’m concerned the addition of a spoiler is just an appearance mod  Not that I think there is anything wrong with making the car look different from standard, hell I have four chrome drain pipes stuck out the back of mine

If I were to get a spoiler though I would go for the MrT type one for the subtle looks ;)

Old post but i thought its a point worth making that the MR2 needs downforce on the back! Its true that it sticks like anything when your chucking it round tight low speed corners but as soon as the speeds up the back end gets a bit twitchy! Was going round a long sweeping corner on a dual carriageway the other day and as the road gradually swept down a hill it felt light as a feather and got a an responsive on the steering! Bit worrying at 120 :( . Was glad it straightened up nicely once i was on the brakes and got the nose it bit closer to the tarmac.

I've got a subtle spoiler like the one above, but it seems its just for looks and doesnt benefit at all. When you look at the car you can see its got nothing to stick it to the road aerodynamically and could really do with something extra.

I recon i might try and find a rear diffuser as it'd look amazing and not at all chavtastic. Big wings tend to look tacky, but i quite like them with the hardtop.

Presumably you mean Autobahn? ;)

I don't think rear down force is necessarily going to help you there; unless the rear end really was sliding, then I suspect it's more likely the front end going light as you crested the hill. And if the rear was sliding at 120 and you controlled it, then you shold be driving Ralf's car because I doubt he'd have managed that.
