1st Time - Lowering Springs, "rs-r Down"!

Hello people, its my first post, so hope you guys be good and help me out here!..

ive recently baught a Yaris 1.3 colour collection, with red anjou interior! - it looks beautiful, and ive fallen in love.

the thing is, i want to start with the mods, and i thaught the first thing to do is buy myself some lowering springs.

so i phoned envyperformance up and asked which springs were best for the yaris, and they offered me a Tein or a RS-R down spring.. then i asked which they would recommend, and they said the RS-R is better in looks terms (was cheaper too, just by a little bit).

now the RS-R lowers the front by 40mm and the back by 20mm.. im hoping you guys have had a little experience with RS-R and ive chosen the right one?..

its my first mod on the car, im getting tints put in next week on friday! - and hoping to change my 14" standard toyota alloys to a good 17".

ill be posting pics up of my new ride soon,

Thanks

Mossy.

not sure about the rsr springs, didn't even know they made them.

i'd say go for the teins as they lower 35mm front and 38mm rear and gives an even balance and it looks better.

are you sure you didn't get the lowering of the rsr springs the wrong way around, because it would look a c**t lowered like that.

As for wheels i'd also say 16's as you would have more trouble lowered that much on 17's, as the wheels would tend to rub on the arches.

Yeh i asked him time and time again during the phone call.. are you sure it will look better than the teins?? - and he kept saying yes!.. i reccomend them, they'd look better and perform better round corners etc..

But i always thaught that the rear being lower than the front would be better?.. and i was more comfortable with the Teins, but he convinced me (and it was cheaper!)

P.S - thanks for the tip guys, ill be looking for 16s when ive got a little more dough :P.

LOL alright, yeh ill look farward to putting them on - ill upload some pics up when its all done and after i have the tints up!.. and ill let you all know how it goes.

after doing some research on these RS-R Down Springs, i think im safe to say that im not as worried anymore.. i heard its a pretty good lowering spring, and its in the £200's for other car models. not sure why its half the price for the Yaris models though..

heres one more link.

oh no.. you for reel? - in my opinion 15" is way too small..

- at the moment i got the standard 14inch alloys from toyota, and theyr way way too small..

i think 16's are just right, and im also thinking of getting low profile tires with them.. so they shouldnt look so stupid right?

16s are crap.

Get 15s, the tyres are almost half the price. it will handle better (imo the grip is more progressive) and your acceratlion wont be affected too much.

Whats the point in upgrading suspension just to ruin it with 16"s. Specially if you get low profile tyres, you wont feel the grip porgressively

15s aare the future my friend

...are you for reel?, because at first i thaught this guys backing his own wheels up, and now i see people agreeing with you!.. hahh.. im almost convinced. i feel like a potatoe..

i always go for looks before performance which i know isnt good.. i know.

do you think 15s would honestly look better than 16s?

i always see 15s looking small & cute, not aggressive.. which isnt what im looking for..?

price obviously is a very big issue with me, which you have a point here.

I have always thought imo that a yaris, lowered with 15s looks far much better than a yaris with 16s+

I had 16s on for a bit, and they were crap, i hated them, They slowed the car down so much, cornering was scary thing as you did not know how much grip you had.

When i changed back to the 14s, the yaris was suddenly alive again, it felt like a rocket, looked twiced as good and driving it in corners was brillant

any tyre can be cheap, depends on what you want.

My car looks better on 16's than 15's and my 16's are lighter than the 15's were. No slowing down because of the bigger wheel/tyre.

17's you will definatly notice a difference in accelleration.

If you get lightweight 16's they can be just as good as 15's.

As for grip the 15's are the same width as the 16's, 195's, but you can also put on a 205 on the 16's.

It's personal choice at the end of the day

but I dont agree with you on the tyres. If you want good tyres and are on a budget 15" is better size to get.

Budget 16" are almost the same price as a meduim tyre on 15"

Obvioulsy the tyre price is cheaper,

about £45 for a toyo in 16's and £25-£35 for a tyre to fit 15's.

17's are more again but accelleration will be crap on the yaris.

But how often do you buy tyres unless your a taxi driver? and why skimp and buy crap tyres especially the way some people drive these days. (not specific to anyone here)

£30 for toyo's on a 15...........x4 tyres thats £60 in your sky rocket..... i go through rear tyres every 3k and front about every 7

Pretty sure those springs are for scion xB so yeah they would look good on a scion but on a yaris they wont look so good imo! The front will be real low and the back still pretty high! Just my opinion!

alright so i take it 16s are out of the question? - is that what your sayin?.. so its either 15 or 17?.

im looking for 16s now anyway, i think its the best approach, cuz the 15s are too small, and the 17s are too too big.

oh, and if you look at the envyperformance website they now got the yaris springs on it, so im sure i got the right ones - not the Scion ones..

i guess the only way we guna find out is if i put them on, right?.. and if they look **** ill hunt the envyperformance guy down for recommending the wrong one even though i told him i was more comfortable with the teins.

anyone know where i can get the T-Sport side skirts?.. the ones from envy performance website, are they the right ones?.
