How On Earth Do You Check The Coolant Level?!?

MR2 Mk2 Rev2 3S-GE, the usual.

I know where to put the coolant in. I know where the cap with the rubber tubing that goes into the coolant is. I can see the expansion bottle right down the bottom there which on first inspections is OPAQUE!!

I've just had the coolant drained and changed. I know i need to check and top-up as you do, but how on earth do we check the coolant level!! I'm hoping some of the more experienced members have a technique or something :)

no expert like but I can tell you what Mr T instructed me in after having some work done on mine :)

ok the expansion cylinder thing..... as long as the bottom part of the tube that comes out is wet then its ok. I keep mine so its a few inches of tube that are wet after its stood for the night.

the cap at the back, check there also, make sure u can see coolant in the pipe. I fill mine almost to the brim if its a little down but mind you dont drop the cap lol can be a pain in the funpads trying to get it back :D

This is how I do it, and this is about as vague and general as it was put accross to me but its done me proud and Id never had a blip on the temp guage or a problem from this method  :)
