Hi all. i'm looking at a few imported 205s from a garage in Hemel Hemstead and am going to have a butchers this weekend. What mods need to be carried out to imported cars to enable them to be road legal in the UK, and how much would this cost. Whats the chance these mods have allready been carried out. Just like to know so i can haggle with the salesman. Cheres All

I have an import 205, and i was the first uk owner of it. All the necessary work was already carried out. I would have thought if you are purchasing from a garage it would already be done.

as far as i know the car has to have an SVA test when it comes over a fog light needs to be added, a converter for the speedo from KM to MPH . and the head lights will need adjusting.

if i have forgotten anything i am sure someone will fill it in

good luck with the car :D

I've heard talk about not buying fresh imports on the forum, just out of curiosity did you have any problems with your import, like repairs etc.

No, i had no problems at all

the car had only done 39,000 miles when i got it, so i grabbed it on milage alone . i have owned my gt4 for 5 years now and only in the last 18 months has it needed any repairs done, but its only the common things that go on them such as figure of 8,s , diff mount , radiator. As with all cars of this age they need up keep, which at times is very costly

I wouldnt be put off buying a fresh import as the SVA test they have is a lot more strict than an MOT.
