Parking Sensors

Hi all,

Have spent the last few weeks on internet checking out parking sensors. I have been recommended

a kit by Valeo. Dont know much about the maker but apparently they make a lot of car components

in fact if you google them Toyota have given them a few awards as a supplier for quality etc.

Anyone any experience with this type ?

Thanks,

Dave.

Hi all,

Thought I would do an update in case any of you are thinking of doing this. Finally fitted sensor kit at weekend, ended up going for the Valeo kit with 4 sensors. I have fitted sensor kits to other cars but this is first time on a Rav. It was a bigger job than expected due to 4.2 not having a bumper, but there is a member on here many of you know as UNCLE PIPPS who has his own web site which shows some tips on various jobs, parking sensors being one of them. Pipps your site is excellent, thanks for the tips.

Anyway job finished, working fine but one thing I have noticed is that because of the spare wheel you cant wait for the continous beep. Dont know how Toyota OEM ones got round this ? Anyway if your thinking about doing this yourself and need any advice let me know.

Cheers,

Dave.

Where did you mount the sensors? Maybe you can post a pic of it.

Because i have a touchscreen navi unit in my RAV4 i trying to find out how to connect a reversing camera.

When it won´t work i go also for a sensor set. OEM Toyota works the best i think but is also a expensive solution.

Anything better as a crack in the spare cover of bumpercorner. Spare cover is expensive!

Hi Dutchrav,

A few threads on here have a link to the Toyota technical site (perhaps a member could do a link as I dont know how to) when you call up the pages for

parking sensors, it gives you dimensions to work to as well as templates which you can print off and cut out. As for the camera, I done a google search

a few months back to see where it could be sited. The only one I found on a Rav was american I think, but it was mounted exactly where one of the sensors

goes, the one above the number plate. Hope this helps, when I get time I will upload a photo.

Cheers,

Dave.

Thanks for the tip. I go do a search for it to have it already.

I have a real good looking solution if i get the camera working.

Got a rear-view camera from eBay and its a wide agle one on a bracket. Want to mount it where the 3rd brakelight is now.

Have also a rearspoiler exactly like the original but with a LED light in it.
