Hi, This is my first post. Guess I should introduce myself. I'm an OAP in Leeds with a 1998 RAV4 GX I bought about 7 months ago to get around in. The car is brilliant, in great nick, love it. So does my companion German Shepherd !Removed!, who just loves to see me open the back door - she's in like a flash.!!!

Anyway when I got the car the seller had lost the alarm fob, so I have just been locking with key c/locking. Recently got a fob 00880 on eBay and have gone through the ritual of programming, but not working! Got ECU out from under centre console - took plate off - turned key on - pressed green button - LED changed to solid light - pressed lock button on fob within the 5 secs - NOTHING HAPPENED! Only difference is LED is flashing QUICKLY instead of SLOW. I expected horn to go and lights to flash - but NOTHING. Any suggestions PLEASE.

:help:

Thanks Mate, Already had a look on Rav4world.

Thanks, I'll try step 2, but not very confident.

This is my story of keyfobs:

Sounds like you're doing everything right. In my case the back door was slightly open which stopped the fob being programmed. and you'll read another chap was caught out by his bonnet sensor.

Thanks. But I'm sure everything is closed as all central locking is OK with key. Wondering if I've bought a faulty fob?

 Solved it myself this afternoon. I did it again, but pressed BOTH buttons instead of just lock button - Works Fine !! :yahoo:

well done. My previous friendly garage decided to rip out the ecu etc that linked to the alarm system as they couldn't find the remote. I'd left the remote beside the handbrake in a little tray but the mumpty never spotted it before ripping the wiring out. Funnily enough, he gave me back the ecu and bits of wiring but not the keyfob bit! They were putting in another engine, but I got the old engine back too! Would have been nicer to have the alarm ok!!!

After I get some major works done on the car we'll need to look at either re-instating the alarm or fitting a new system.

That's outrageous! I hope you made a worthwhile claim against them, or their insurance.

If you decide to fit a TVSS 111b system, at least I will be able to tell you how to programme the fob!!!?

:)
