I´m having plans on installing som audio-equipment in the aygo. The alternator and the Battery is the first things I have to make sure are up to the task. The Battery needs to be replaced.

The alternator I´m not sure about. The aygo + has a 80A Denso alternator but it also have more electric stuff installet from the factory. Is it the same on the cheaper aygo ? :help:

would think so. what you planning on installing?

Optima yellow Battery, ground zero 1200Wrms amp to the bass (dls ur12 bass) , nakamichi amp to the front Speakers. Probably a 3-piece kit-system at front with kickpanels.

Sounds nice. My headlights have started dimming on really big bass notes but only recently (had car a year) so i would think your plan is good. I wanna put some visor screens in next but was wondering if maybe just putting in a bigger Battery would suplly it better than wiring in a second Battery cos then you have to do the alternator aswell like you. Also for the installation of something like an XBOX would you say it is possible with the stock Battery?

The stock Battery is ridiculous small .. like 35ah or something like that. But it´s no problem as long as the alternator can load more than you use. You only need a Battery (or 2) with more Ah´s it you want to play with the engine turned off. You can have screens, xboxes etc. with the regular Battery but u will have have the engine on. You don´t needs to replace the alternator unless the continous power consumption is more than 950w (that includes the headlights, ignition, fan ..... ) A 1000wRms amp is using about half at normal usage.

The problem with ordinary batteries is that if the volts gets to low it will damage the battery permanently. With a small battery you don´t have very much power to use before the voltage gets critical. A damaged battery will never get good again how much you load it. Unless it´s a deep cycle battery like the optima. The optima (or similar) also can also leave power faster than regular battery and the bass needs fast power otherwise the bass will get "untight".

The headlight dimming could be caused by : bad battery, bad grounding at the battery, bad alternator. Most likely is the battery.. you should try to check the volts. A power capacitator can be used the even out the power peakes.

Yeah I had a cap on my old car. Couldn't be bothered to put it in here.

Nope; it's a 70A... At least it is on my "Black" (which is a Plus with some extra kit):

The standard Battery is 45Ah, a 55Ah is the maximum

that'll fit without modifications according to my mechanic.

Thanks for the answer! There is a alternator called denso 27060-0Q020 also to the aygo that is fitted in the aygo at least here in sweden .. Maybe it differs from market to market? Sound strange if they would fit a weaker alternator in the plus. Didn´t know there was a 27060-0Q010 70a..

Sound reasonable to me; the climate in Sweeden is colder than it is in mainland Europe or the UK,

so you're more likely to use the wipers, heater, lights and rear window defog.

Those all consume relatively huge amounts of power, so a bigger alternator would be very usefull...

And in climates where it's not neccesary they'd fit a cheaper 70A type.

Even if it only differs 2 of 3 bucks per car, calculate it over the whole

number of cars made per year and you get substantial savings!
