Tyre Valves

Hiya folks

Just a quick one. Can you replace the valves on tyres, as my boyfriend has got a metal vlave cap rusted on one and can't get it off. He reckons you just get a new valves and not a entire new tyre.

Can someone please advise as i have never heard that you can.

As far as I'm aware you can just replace the valve. The valve isn't a part of the tyre. It's not like a mountain bike inner tube etc.

Valves can be replaced at around £4 a pop.

I bet he has Aluminium dust caps.. these things seem to react with the brass on the valve itself and weld themselves on.. I get it every week at work.. some are impossible to get off without destroying the valve stem.

Get stainless dustcaps or just stick to plastic ones in future
