Rear-view Cameras

I've seen rear-view cameras mentioned in one or two reviews of the 2006 RAV4, but they don't seem to appear anywhere in the brochures. Are they only available on overseas models?

I suppose they might be standard equipment on UK models with full-screen SatNav and T might just have forgotten to brag about it, but it doesn't seem very likely :)

I have full screen satnav, and it does not have a rear view camera.

I don't think it's officially available in the UK, but a few people have fitted them, themselves.

OK, thanks - pretty much as I suspected. I've always coped well enough without reversing aids but as there's a handy screen available it would certainly seems a logical "nice to have" feature. It seems quite penny-pinching for T not to have provided one, to be honest: everything's there bar the camera itself, which would cost peanuts to add during manufacture, and they're certainly expensive enough cars. It's quite baffling that it's not at least an option in the UK though, if it's available elsewhere.

Thanks Dave, that's interesting. I'll wait and see how I get on when I've had the car a while; I've never had a lot of trouble reversing, so to be honest it would probably be a toy that I can't really justify. It is tempting though, especially as they don't seem all that expensive...

I'm not really sure I like the idea of drilling into a brand new car, though.
