My T3 Verso 2.2 D-4d Is A Lemon!

:help: I bought a 2.2 D4D T3 spec Verso in March 06. - My first 2 months driving experience was not great, although I loved the speed and performance of the engine. The ride proved a bit bumpy in the rear and with a restricted view through a high glass line my kids were sick on journey's over 5 miles. (they did adjust) By August, I had a strange engine noise (like a jumbo jet overhead), this could not be identified immediately so visited toyota twice before a distorted airbox was diagnosed. By November this was fixed. Over the summer the dash was distorted so two parts of this were replaced, one is still a poor fit. In feb I reported the door frames making a vibrating noise, and some extreme wind noise, they adjusted doors but it has not resolved the problems. My first service was due in March by then my fog lights were letting in water, new ones have been ordered but no call yet to say they are in (5 weeks)- This made the car a frequent visitor to Toyota before it was even 1 year old.(Not including a safety recall, I forgave them for this as I got chocolates) My old car a Zafira, just went every 20,0000 for 5 years with no additional visits. As you can imagine this is not the motoring I expected from the Toyota and I am not a happy customer. On 26th March (car not quite 13 months old) the body coloured paint has started to peel off the most frequently used door handles. So back on my to do list....ring Toyota to book it in for some warranty work. I live 20 miles from the nearest Toyota Garage, I did not expect to have to visit so much. Shall I move House?? I wrote a review on the toyota website with identical detail to this post, as yet it remains unpublished and no contact from Toyota.

My next step is a recorded delivery more formal approach to my complaint, is there any advice out there have people had similar problems. A phone call proved fruitless! They sent me customer service questionaires galore, I have not completed one as there is no section for complaint. It appears they are not prepared for them.

I also have poor fuel consumption and totally dodgy range indicator, rusty wheel hubs peeping through my alloys and I will soon be battling rumours of an affair with a Toyota mechanic. It's OK though I still have my sense of humour and unfortunately my verso (with the turning circle of the Arc Royal)!!!

sounds like you've been unlucky, the local bristol garages are really good.

you tried toyota GB direct 0191 525 7006?

Are you a member of club toyota? they might be more helpful with what to do next(?).

You're right about the GB site being crap.

I am afraid that Toyota GB customer services are unhelpful there attitude is rude and arrogant I even wrote to Toyota Europe and Toyota Japan about a problem I had and in the end they did not bother to answer my letters.

Regarding your Verso I think you have just been unlucky the only problem which you mentioned which has effected me was the rust showing through the alloys ! the dealer has said he will spray the hubs on my next service. Also the ride is a bit bumpy at low speed

Not a Verso owner (I have a Corolla) but I do sympathise with your problems. This shouldn't happen on such a new car much less a Toyota. But I do think that Toyota has sadly now begun to back peddle on its once legendary quality and value for money across its entire new range.

As someone else has said on this thread, watch out for the alloys. This is a common problem apparently. If you check out this thread (which relates to my alloy problem):

http://toyotaownersclub.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=64794

you will see what the problems are from a photograph. But, to be at least slightly optimistic, it doesn't happen to everybody!

From the general problems you have been experiencing one wonders whether your car hadn't been involved in something before it was sold to you (the poor fit of parts etc).

If you persevere though, stick with it and the dealer continues to sort everything under warranty you might at least end up with a car that you can be reasonably happy with. I wish you luck and hope it turns out ok
