Hi. I'm picking up my Aygo soon! Woo!!! Still can't wait!! Just wondering if anybody's got any tips on things to check for when I collect eg the boot button not working. Would be a great help if we could get a list together.

If the car has central locking lock the doors then check each lock to ensure they are all locked.

I make a list of everything I can think of which needs checking. Before signing the acceptance I ask for 20 minutes or so to go through the list at my pace. I tell the sales staff to go for a coffee or something!

It's also a good way of at least having a basic knowledge of where main controls are before driving off. Take someone with you too so lights can be checked.

It sounds anal and the excitement can get the better of you, but cars cost a lot of cash and getting things sorted after acceptance is more difficult than refusing to accept - the sales staff need the car off their book asap.

Our Aygo was delivered to my wife's place of work and no thorough checks were done as my wife had to work and sure enough we had the central locking problem on the boot.

20 minutes spent on pick up can save you grief later on.

I once saw a brand new Alfa leave a garage with one set of rear lights not working - that's a fine and points if stopped.

I've gotta take someone with me because I haven't passed my test yet. Needed to get the car to get a driving instructor :@. Can't even drive it out of the garage because of the motorway :( Ah well, my mum's looking forward to it! Thanks for your help!
