CTS is in here between the £6k to £8k bracket nice to see it made the top three but why does every review say it lacks torque, its a racey engine the funs at the top drive it like it mean't too be driven. Any way vented some anguish there!!!!!

I wish these people wouldn't just recycle what someone else has said about the torque in the cts. Fair enough it doesn't have super amounts, but it's hardly lacking either. And his comment about "having" to drive it like it's on fire. I can pull away from traffic lights in 3rd and the engine is more than comfy in 5th at 30mph, so although the engine is happier being revved high and so am I, it doesn't always have to be driven that way.

I agree, many a time i've gone for a nice drive dropped it into 6th and gone through 30 and 40 speed limits without really having to drop it down into fifth (only at 30 mph). Acceleration from there is adequate and still pulls well.

These reviews make the CTS look like it has no torque at all. I've pulled up next to many turbo diesels and others cars with more torque and eased past before i even hit lift.

That's because even though diesels have lots of torque, they have very long gear ratios aswell.

Torque itself means nothing at all when it comes to performance. It's the torque and the gearing (or the power) that determine acceleration.
